PHOENIX — Two men were arrested Monday night after a possible road rage incident in Mesa left one woman in critical condition.

Arturo Nunez, 30; Andres Nunez, 28; and a third person were in a Toyota sedan when they encountered a white BMW near Country Club Drive and Rio Salado Parkway, according to court documents.

Occupants of both cars began yelling at each other, the documents stated, and Andres Nunez began swerving and almost striking the BMW.

Arturo allegedly got out of the car and began hitting the BMW’s hood while yelling “west side” and putting his hands in the shape of a “W,” the documents stated.

The victims also exited their car and one reportedly struck the hood of the sedan.

Arturo Nunez then allegedly pushed a victim to the ground, while the other victim saw Andres Nunez holding a gun.

That victim got back into the car and drove away, hitting Arturo Nunez, according to the documents.

The documents stated Andres Nunez then opened fire and struck the woman driving three times — once in the shoulder and twice in the leg.

According to ABC15, she was hospitalized in critical condition.

The other victim injured her knee when she was pushed to the ground, police said. She has been discharged from the hospital.

Earlier reports said both women had been shot.

Arturo Nunez was charged with assisting a criminal street gang, gang-related threatening and assault.

Andres Nunez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, endangerment and firing at a nonresidential structure.
