Suspects in police shooting in Queen Creek were wanted for crime spree

PHOENIX – The two suspects arrested after a police shooting at a Queen Creek shopping center last week were wanted for a crime spree across the Phoenix area, authorities said Monday.

Goodyear’s Brian Garduno, 30, and Show Low’s Megan Elizabeth Revier, 27, face more than 100 felony charges in over 40 cases, according to the Goodyear Police Department.

They are accused of stealing more than $25,000 in merchandise.

After their arrest Friday following a shooting at Queen Creek Marketplace involving Goodyear police, five charges were added to Garduno’s record – organized retail theft, unlawful flight, two counts of vehicle theft and DUI – and a vehicle theft charge was tacked onto Revier’s list.

Charges related to last week’s shooting are pending from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Goodyear police said.

Goodyear police first encountered the pair after a Dec. 11, 2019, shoplifting incident at TJ Maxx in Goodyear. The suspects fled and evaded arrest at the time, police said.

Investigators determined that the suspects’ vehicle was stolen and learned of the slew of existing charges against them.

The vehicle was spotted in the East Valley on Friday and put under surveillance.

Detectives followed the suspects to the TJ Maxx at Rittenhouse and Ellsworth Loop roads and saw them commit another theft, police said.

According to ABC15, Garduno tried to ram the car he was driving into police vehicles when officers shot through his windshield.

Both suspects suffered injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening. No officers were hurt.
