Janet Napolitano, the former governor of Arizona and current Secretary of Homeland Security, reiterated her threats to use the Transportation Security Administration to terrorize the American public this week.
She said, and I quote, “If you’re traveling, get to the airport earlier than you otherwise would. There’s only so much we can do with personnel, and please don’t yell at the customs officers or the TSA officers.”
Janet, I don’t respond to threats either.
As opposed to cutting non-essential spending and impacting Americans as little as possible, this administration is doing the exact opposite, as evidenced by the comments made by government officials lately and a leaked memo that surfaced instructing another agency to not contradict the impact threatened by the White House by making cuts that would not be noticed. In other words, make them squeal.
Let’s hope this act of domestic terrorism does not have the desired effect of capitulation and negotiation and instead inspires Americans to rethink the role of government in their lives. Maybe when the lines in Terminal 4 get to be three hours long, a new wave of patriotism and civil disobedience will rise up and we will all walk right past the two remaining TSA agents and ignore their cries of “we are only doing this for YOUR safety!”
Sell crazy somewhere else. We’re all full here.
