A conservative renaissance? Not.
Just hours after my last post, the Pew Research Center released a new poll on Millennials, and the news for conservatives hasn’t gotten any better.
Half of the 18 to 33 generation now describe themselves as political independents, but they vote heavily Democratic and subscribe to notably liberal views, like support for same sex marriage, the legalization of marijuana and most troubling for conservatives, an activist government.
Some of these views may be attributable to race. White Millennials aren’t as left-leaning as minority
Millennials. But the demographics for conservatives are not good. If current trends hold, the majority of Americans will be non-white by about 2040.
And the evening of my last post, Jon Stewart again found an opportunity to ridicule conservatives, this time on the issue of health care. Watching the Fox New commentator squirm as “Correspondent” Aasif Mandvi skewers him is either excruciatingly painful or delightfully deserved, depending on your political leanings. Either way, it’s worth watching. If you’re a conservative, you should know what you’re facing. If you’re a liberal, you’ll appreciate the validation.
