Phoenix PD: 1 dead after collision causes motorcycle to burst into flames

PHOENIX — A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a vehicle that caused the motorcycle to burst into flames on impact early Saturday morning, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.
The incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. in the area of McDowell Road and 23rd Avenue.
Fortune says that the vehicle was traveling southbound on 23rd Avenue when the motorcycle failed to stop at the red light on McDowell Road and hit the passenger side of the vehicle.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene, but impairment is not suspected at this time.
The two passengers of the vehicle did not sustain serious injuries and were safely removed.
The identity of the motorcycle driver is not being disclosed at this time as the investigation is still ongoing.
