Sprouts, Taylor Morrison earn spots on Fortune most-admired list
PHOENIX – Two Phoenix-area businesses – grocer’s chain Sprouts and homebuilder Taylor Morrison – have been named to Fortune’s list of the world’s most-admired companies of 2020.
The list was released Tuesday. Phoenix-based Sprouts finished third in the food and drugstore category; Taylor Morrison also finished third in its industry.
The grocery chain has made the list two other times; Taylor Morrison has made one other appearance.
The annual compilation “favors companies whose peers recognize that they do many different things well,” the magazine wrote.
“As a Phoenix-based company and top employer in Arizona, we’re proud to be recognized for our efforts in expanding access to healthy food options across the country,” Sprouts spokesman Diego Romero said in an email Thursday to KTAR News 92.3 FM.
“The success of Sprouts is driven by our knowledgeable workforce which is dedicated to improving the lives of our shoppers.”
Taylor Morrison CEO Sheryl Palmer said in a statement, “There’s something special about being recognized by other leaders in our industry, because it really validates the hard work and dedication our teams put into building the best homes and delivering an outstanding customer experience in the process.”
Businesses in 52 industries were rated in nine areas, including investment value, social responsibility, quality of management and products and skill at hiring talent.
The survey starts with 1,500 names that are cut down to 680 in more than two dozen countries.
Sprouts finished behind Publix Super Markets and Walgreens, while Taylor Morrison finished behind Toll Brothers and Lennar Corp.
