Man fatally shot in Phoenix after he reportedly tried to stab someone

PHOENIX — A man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Phoenix after he reportedly tried to stab someone.
Police said officers responded to a call of a shooting at a residence near 27th and Campbell avenues just before 2 p.m.
Dontae Ray McGinty, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said McGinty had been threatening people with a large knife and tried to stab someone before a 25-year-old man shot him.
The man called 911 after he shot McGinty and was released from custody after questioning.
Police said they found a large knife in McGinty’s hand at the scene.
The investigation into the incident was ongoing.
