Boston chefs, lip-syncing group create ‘Cuisine Rock’ album

Apr 27, 2014, 5:26 PM | Updated: 5:26 pm

We’ve all had those sleepless evenings where we wake up in the middle of the night and without being prompted flip on the television to see what’s on.

Usually, there’s a heavy dose of sitcom re-runs and infomercials — the latter of which consistently promotes some overpriced CD of an obscure rock band or folk artist.

In the spirit of that theme, lip-syncers Lydia Shire, Joshua Smith and Mei Mei recently collaborated on a food-themed version for Urban Improv’s Banned in Boston fundraiser.

Played to the tune of popular songs like “Everybody’s Working for the Weekend,” “Wake Me Up Before You Go,” “When a Man Loves a Woman” and “I Like Big Butts,” the talented trio used renowned chefs around the city to create a fictional “Cuisine Rock” album.

Suffice it to say, it’s amazing and something that might actually.
