PHOENIX – A young woman reported missing a week ago was found dead Thursday in a west Phoenix industrial area, authorities said.
The body of 18-year-old Jaelynn Alston “had extensive injuries to multiple locations,” according to a Phoenix Police Department email.
Officers located the body after responding to a call about unknown trouble in a building near 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
They’d been told a foul odor was coming from a room rented out by the building’s owners.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene because of the body’s condition.
Alston had been reported missing Jan. 9.
Police said they are trying to find the man who leased the room. They consider the man, who was not identified, a person of interest in the case.
Anybody with information was asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or, to remain anonymous, Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.
