A Bar Mitzvah is a big time in a young Jewish man’s life, but one decided to turn the spotlight away from himself and the video is going viral.
According to the Huffington Post, Duncan McAlpine Sennett used his d’var Torah analysis to take a stand for gay marriage.
He was required to take a deeper look at Jacob’s marriage to Leah and Rachel, sisters who were also first cousins. Sennett said traditional marriage has changed since the Book of Genesis.
He then adds, “I am a very, very strong supporter of equal rights and the freedom of men and women to marry whomever they love.”
Sennett said his Portland, Ore. congregation is in full support of allowing gay marriage.
