PHOENIX — A festival celebrating cultures from around the world is returning to Chandler for its 25th installment this weekend.

The annual Chandler Multicultural Festival will take place in the city’s downtown from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The festival will feature live performances, face painting, games, arts and crafts, and food, according to a press release.

“Chandler’s commitment to sustaining an exceptional quality of life is something I valued when I moved to this community 12 years ago,” Chandler Councilman Sam Huang said in the release. “In moving from Taiwan to the United States and experiencing life in other cities, I have learned that the most successful cities are the ones that focus on building a strong sense of community.”

The free event will also feature vendors who will sell cultural items throughout the day.

A list of vendors, performers and different kinds of foods and beverages that will be served is available on the city’s website.

New installments this year to the festival are the Asian Village, located at the Chandler Community Center, and tickets available for purchase for adult beverages from across the world.

The city also partnered with the Chandler International Film Festival to show a preview of the film “The Nomads” at the Harkins Theatres at Chandler Fashion Square at 7 p.m. that night.

Tickets for the preview cost $5 and all proceeds benefit the South Chandler Self Help Foundation.
