PHOENIX – Police in Glendale said Monday a man has died after he was hit by a driver who fled the scene in a truck.

Carlos Chavez Aguirre, 39, and an unidentified girl were struck by a pickup truck Saturday as they crossed 49th and Glendale avenues around 7:15 p.m.

The dark-colored truck was heading westbound when it struck the two. The girl, a minor, was taken to the hospital. Her injuries weren’t life-threatening, police said in email.

Video showed the single-cab truck, possibly a Chevy Silverado produced between 2003 and 2006, turning right onto Orangewood Avenue after having been on 51st Avenue.

Investigators said the truck windows were tinted too dark for the driver or any possible passengers to be identified.

The truck has oversize wheels and is custom-painted a dark brown.

No other details were immediately available.

Anyone with any information can contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for a potential reward, or the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000.

We want to hear from you.
