PHOENIX — A 2-year-old Doberman Pinscher is ready for adoption after making a remarkable recovery four months after being found extremely emaciated.
Sam was 26 pounds and had muscular atrophy, sores all over his body and green eye discharge when he was rescued by an Arizona Humane Society cruelty investigator in September.
He was rushed to the Humane Society’s trauma hospital and was put on a feeding schedule for two months. Sam was then sent to a foster home to continue his recovery.
Sam, who is described as a huge love bug who loves to snuggle, now weighs 54 pounds and has recovered from his hair loss and wounds.
He was made available for adoption at the Humane Society’s Sunnyslope campus near 13th Avenue and Hatcher Road in Phoenix.
The Arizona Humane Society said in a press release that it conducted more than 7,400 cruelty investigations in 2019.
