If you’ve ever worked a job in Arizona, especially a labor-intensive one, there’s a big chance you were insured by CopperPoint Mutual Insurance Company, formerly SCF Arizona.
“We have 380 employees throughout the state, but we also have over 20,000 business that we serve and we have thousands and thousands and thousands of claimants who need supportive care and need medical benefits and depend upon compensation checks because of work injuries they sustained,” said Phyllis Senseman, Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
Senseman gave an example of the services CopperPoint Mutual offers when compared to other states.
“If you looked at, statistically, what it costs to build a house here versus in California, it costs about $20,000, on average, for workers compensation premiums related to that house being built, so the work comp costs to a business owner in California are significantly higher than a work comp premium is in Arizona to a business,” Senseman explained. “We like to think that as the largest provider of workers compensation, we’re helping keep costs down because of our claims management techniques and our medical provider care network that works at a discount.”
But CopperPoint Mutual cares about more than just its own clientele.
Senseman added that at CopperPoint.com, they offer various
safety resources to any business — from videos to brochures to a safety plan template — regardless of whether or not that business holds a policy with CounterPoint Mutual.
“We want Arizona busineses and Arizona workers, ultimately, to be safe and that’s something we do to better serve our community,” Senseman said.
They also work with employers on return-to-work programs and run safety expos every year. In 2014, CopperPoint Mutual will have expos in both Phoenix and Tucson and they will also be for everyone, not just for policyholders.
