PHOENIX — A 27-year-old Ohio man was charged Tuesday on six counts stemming from a wrong-way crash on State Route 51 in Phoenix in November.
Eldorado Mukaj was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and four counts of felony endangerment after his red Corvette smashed into a police car in the early hours of Nov. 4, the Arizona Department of Public Safety announced in a press release.
Mukaj, who was in serious condition following the crash, has remained in a local hospital since the incident and can’t be booked into jail right now because of his injuries.
The case was referred to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Two Tempe police officers were in their cars when Mukaj crashed into one unit at Indian School Road around 1:50 a.m., DPS said.
Pieces of both vehicles then slammed into the trailing patrol unit, according to DPS. The officers suffered minor injuries.
DPS said it believes impairment was a factor in the crash and that it is still investigating.
