PHOENIX — Three police officers were assaulted and six juveniles were arrested after multiple fights broke out at a Mesa skate rink on Saturday night, authorities said.
Mesa police responded to a call of juveniles fighting at Skateland Mesa near Southern Avenue and Mesa Drive at approximately 10:30 p.m. and found several scuffles and disruptive behavior happening inside the venue, Mesa police spokesman Nik Rasheta said in an email.
As police tried to break up the fights, those inside the venue shifted outside, where more fights broke out, police said.
At least five fights were reported during the entire encounter. About 1,000 individuals were at the skate rink when the fights began to break out.
None of the individuals involved in the fights reported injuries.
The police officers who were assaulted didn’t suffer serious injuries, according to police.
The juveniles, aged between 13 and 17, were referred to juvenile court and were released to parents or guardians.
It was unclear whether the teens will face charges.
