Authorities searching for man who went missing at Grand Canyon

PHOENIX — The National Park Service is searching for a man who went missing at the Grand Canyon last week.

Martin Edward O’Connor, 58, of La Porte, Texas, was last seen Dec. 22 at the Yavapai Lodge on the South Rim.

According to a press release, authorities believe O’Connor was traveling alone. He stayed at the lodge Dec. 17-22.

He was described as a bald white male with blue eyes. He is 5-foot-10 and weighs about 145 pounds.

O’Connor was last seen wearing “Carhartt-style work clothing” and a blue plaid shirt.

Anyone who may have seen or spoken to O’Connor was asked to call the NPS Investigative Services Branch Tip Line at 888-653-0009.

The daily high temperatures in the Grand Canyon area this week were expected to be as low as 28 degrees, with lows dipping to 12-20 degrees.
