PHOENIX – If you’re still looking for New Year’s Eve plans, the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control might have you covered.
The shelter is looking for volunteers for their “Calming the Canines” event at both of its locations.
Volunteers will sit with the animals to help keep them calm while fireworks are going off outside. Participants can read, listen to music quietly or just simply be with the animals to offer a distraction to the noises.
MCAAC will also offer vouchers to volunteers to participants so they can adopt the animal they sat with for 50% of the adoption price.
The event will take place on Dec. 31 starting at 11 p.m. and last until 12:30 a.m.
MCACC’s West Valley shelter is located at 2500 S. 27th Avenue and its East Valley shelter is located at 2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway.
