Tame Impala coming to Gila River Arena in Glendale in July

Dec 27, 2019, 4:45 AM | Updated: 8:05 am

PHOENIX — Tame Impala, the Australian psychedelic pop band led by multi-instrumentalist Kevin Parker, is bringing its act to Glendale next year.

The July 28 show at Gila River Arena is part of the band’s 23 city, two-country tour that begins in late May and concludes in early August.

Tickets are on sale now.

Joining Tame Impala is American indie pop musician Mike Hadreas, better known as Perfume Genius.

The band, who hail from Perth, was a headliner for Coachella back in April, and will release a new studio album named “The Slow Rush” on Feb. 14.

Tame Impala was named the artist of the decade by Josh Terry of Vice, saying, “No artist captured how genres cross-pollinated throughout the 2010s better than Tame Impala.”

Its greatest success was the album “Currents” released in the summer of 2015.

It reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 in August of that year and was named Album of the Year and Best rock album at the 2015 Australia Recording Industry Association Music Awards.

It was the second time Tame Impala was awarded album of the year; their first was in 2013 with “Lonerism”.

We want to hear from you.
