PHOENIX — Phoenix police investigating the disappearance of an 83-year-old man found human remains buried in the backyard of his residence on Friday.
Detectives arrived at a residence near 2800 W. Diana Ave. around 7 a.m. and arrested the missing man’s grandson, according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
He also identified the 83-year-old missing man as Adow Albert.
Thompson added that Albert was reported as missing on Aug. 4 and that he lived in the home with his 38-year-old grandson, Joshua Ward.
Ward is being charged with abandonment or concealment of a dead body, according to Thompson.
Thompson also said that the remains were so badly decomposed that the identity and cause of death will have to be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
