US 60 in Glendale closed after serious accident during rush hour

PHOENIX – U.S. 60, aka Grand Avenue, was closed during rush hour Thursday evening after a serious accident in the West Valley.
One man suffered life-threatening injuries in the wreck at Maryland Avenue, Glendale police said.
The freeway was shut down in Glendale in both directions around 5:30 p.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Traffic heading northwest was being diverted at 55th Avenue, but motorists were advised to exit at or before 51st Avenue.

Southeast traffic was closed at 57th Drive, but drivers were encouraged to exit at Myrtle Avenue.
The freeway remained closed until around 10 p.m.
