PHOENIX — Arizona believes the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

House Method named “Elf,” the 2003 movie starring Will Ferrell, as the state’s favorite Christmas movie.

The blog asked 4,500 Americans in mid-November to pick their favorite holiday film from Rotten Tomatoes’ top 50 list.

“Elf” was a popular choice, coming up as the No. 1 movie in 10 other states.

The country’s all-time favorite, though, was “A Christmas Story,” with 24 states behind it.

Other popular movies on the list were “Home Alone,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Die Hard” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

“Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Christmas Vacation,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “A Christmas Carol” and “Miracle on 34th Street” were each named the top pick of a single state.

Participants were also asked if they believed “Die Hard” counts as a Christmas movie.

Only 38% of Arizona’s respondent said yes, while just under 41% said yes nationally.

We want to hear from you.
