PHOENIX – Firefighters in Phoenix reached a kennel blaze early Wednesday in time to save several dogs boarded there, first responders said.
Capt. Todd Kelly said in an email crews were able to let about 10 to 15 dogs out of cages during the fire near State Route 51 and Bell Road.
After the gates were opened, the dogs safely got out on their own, Kelly said.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames from jumping to any other structures, including a house next door.
ABC15 reported the dogs were moved to another building on-site and their owners were being contacted.
The fire was under investigation.
No other details were available.
