PHOENIX — A Canadian airline is giving snowbirds another option to flock to the Valley during the winter.
On Sunday, budget airline Swoop debuted its seasonal nonstop flight between Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The twice-a-week flight will be in service on Thursdays and Sundays until April 23, according to a press release.
“Swoop is continually looking to grow and diversify our Winnipeg network offerings, providing our travelers with more options to escape to warmer climates,” Swoop President Steven Greenway said in the release.
“In the past three months, we have celebrated the addition of several new routes from Winnipeg and look forward to continuing momentum, passing savings and great destinations on to our travelers.”
This is Swoop’s second stop into Gateway.
The airline also offers a twice-weekly Edmonton, Alberta, flight out of the East Valley airport.
The carrier offers unbundled travel, with base fares that cover just the seat. Add-ons such as assigned seating, extended legroom, snacks and checked or carry-on baggage are available for additional fees.
