PHOENIX — A 4-year-old girl is dead and a woman is in critical condition following a early morning Phoenix apartment fire on Sunday, Phoenix Fire Department Captain Rob McDade told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

A man and 10-year-old girl were also transferred to the hospital and are in stable condition.

McDade said crews were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. to an apartment complex on 23rd and Dunlap avenues.

Firefighters were able to rescue the man, woman and the 10-year-old girl through a second-floor window, McDade said.

The second fire crew located the four-year-old girl deceased after entering the front door, according to McDade who said it was determined the child was dead before crews arrived on scene. He said it is unknown how she got separated from the family.

While McDade said there is not a final determination on what started the fire, it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

No other details were immediately available.

KTAR News’ 92.3 FM’s Nailea Leon contributed to this report.
