PHOENIX – There are plenty of options for holiday parades in the Phoenix area each year, but only one floats.
The 20th annual Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade will glow across Tempe Town Lake on Saturday night.
The event will include live entertainment, food and adult beverage vendors and a holiday market at Tempe Beach Park from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The parade begins at 7 p.m. from the north shore at Tempe Town Lake Marina. The boats will head west, turn right at the light rail bridge and then head back east along the north shore.
Fireworks are scheduled after 8 p.m.
While the festivities are free, event organizers are holding a peanut butter drive on behalf of the Tempe Community Action Agency food bank. Attendees can donate unopened jars at a station near the main entertainment stage in the park.
Parking will available on both sides of the lake as well as at the Marquee Theater and Town Lake Marina.
To avoid traffic hassles, take the light rail to the Third Street and Mill Avenue station near the shore or the Center Parkway and Washington Street near the north shore.
