Authorities investigate shooting on West Valley highway during rush hour

PHOENIX – Authorities were investigating a shooting on Loop 303 during rush hour Thursday evening, shutting down about 4 miles of highway in the West Valley.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said it received a report that the occupant of a pickup truck shot a man driving a Camaro in the leg just before 4 p.m.
The shooting occurred just north of Interstate 10 on northbound Loop 303.
The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
The suspect’s vehicle was not located, DPS said.
Northbound Loop 303 was fully closed from Van Buren Street to Camelback Road in Goodyear during the investigation.

DPS said the closure was expected to remain in place for an extended period.
The freeway was reopened at about 8 p.m.
Southbound traffic was not affected.
