PHOENIX — Phoenix police were looking for a suspect Wednesday after he stole two vehicles while fleeing from officers.

Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said officers detained several men at a bank near Cave Creek and Thunderbird roads around 7:30 a.m. due to a suspicious activity call.

One of the suspects fled police on foot and stole a box truck. He then abandoned the truck and stole an SUV at gunpoint, Fortune said.

The SUV was recovered, Fortune said, but the suspect remained outstanding. He was last seen in the area of 28th Street and Larkspur Drive.

Fortune said no one was injured, and officers were searching the area.

UPDATE: The suspect, 27-year-old Justin M. Berthiaume, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near 25th Street and Bell Road, police said Thursday.
