PHOENIX – Free meatballs and cannolis. We repeat, free meatballs and cannolis.

That’s what early birds can get their beaks on during this month’s grand opening of The Sicilian Butcher craft meatball restaurant and The Sicilian Baker cannoli bar in Chandler.

The second Phoenix-area location for the tandem eateries will debut Dec. 19 at the Chandler Viridian PrimeGate development at Chandler Fashion Center.

Starting at 11 a.m., the first 100 guests in line at The Sicilian Butcher will receive $15 gift cards and complimentary meatball samples. Next door at The Sicilian Baker, the first 100 guests who mention “holy cannoli” will get $10 gift cards and a free medium cannoli.

The Sicilian concepts are part of the Scottsdale-based Maggiore Group, the team behind Tomaso’s Italian Restaurant, Tomaso’s Italian Kitchen and Hash Kitchen.

The original Sicilian Butcher and Sicilian Baker opened in Phoenix on Tatum Boulevard near Greenway Road in 2017.

“Both of these restaurants have grown into north Phoenix favorites and it was more than necessary to share the love with our East Valley community,” Joey Maggiore, co-founder and executive chef, said in a press release.

“With the create-your-own experiences for meatballs and cannoli alike, these concepts will continue to expand with the fun and unparalleled spirit that they bring.”

A third Sicilian duo is in the works for Peoria, near Northern and 99th avenues.

The 6,500-square-foot Chandler space, which can accommodate 420 guests, is the Maggiore Group’s largest location.

The Sicilian Butcher’s menu features dishes that patrons can customize from a selection of various meatballs, sauces and bases, including pasta and risotto.

The Sicilian Baker’s signature cannoli desserts come in 12 sweet ricotta cream flavors — including chocolate, cookie butter and pistachio — and four sizes. The shop also offers other pastries, sandwiches and an espresso bar.

The eateries, located at 3151 W. Frye Road, will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

We want to hear from you.
