Scottsdale conservation center takes in 2 baby bobcats, 14 total animals

PHOENIX — A Scottsdale wildlife conservation center has taken in some new furry friends.
The Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center said Monday the newcomers are two baby bobcats that were rescued in Arizona and 12 other animals that came from a center in California.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife closed a facility near Los Angeles, prompting the need for a new home for the animals, according to a press release.
They include three African porcupines, two red foxes, a gray fox, a red-tailed hawk, a barn owl, a coati and coyotes.

The animals rescued from California will not be released back into the wild, according to Linda Searles, executive director and founder of Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center.
“We always try to keep our doors open for animals in need,” Searles said in the release. “I have long-standing relationships with other conservation agencies and centers. So, when they need help, we are here for them, and for the animals.”
The facility is caring for about 350 rescued animals right now, including coyotes, foxes and bobcats. Some of the animals will get released back into the wild while others will stay at the Scottsdale facility.
