This date did not turn into a love connection. On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at about 4:30 in the morning, a man and a woman met at a motel near Interstate 17 and Bethany Home Road.
“And they agreed to go to the motel room together,” says Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild.
Once inside the room, the man quickly realized it was NOT a private tryst. There were several people waiting.
“Some of the suspects were male, there was another female in the room,” says Sgt. Rothschild. “And one of those suspects had a gun and robbed the victim of his belongings.”
They also took his vehicle. One of the female suspects took the car to a couple of nearby stores and made purchases with the credit card they’d stolen.
And, to make matters worse, that credit card belonged to the victim’s mom.

Next: A briefcase full of cash was the target of two violent robbers.
Sgt. Rothschild says the crime happened Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, just after 5:30 p.m.
Our victim was leaving a building materials business near 19th Avenue and Peoria with the day’s take inside his briefcase. That’s when two men approached him, demanding the briefcase, beating the guy up and knocking him to the ground.
“We have two victims,” says Sgt. Rothschild. “The victim who was assaulted and the business that lost the money.”
The robbers got away in a blue four door car.
