Tech expert offers best tips and practices ahead of Cyber Monday

Tech expert Kim Komando told KTAR News 92.3 FM there are a few safety precautions to take when it comes to online shopping.
“First of all, make sure every device — your smart phone, your tablet, your computer, whatever you’re using to shop online — has anti-virus and operating system software that’s all up to date,” she advised.
She also added that the the type of card you’re using matters.
“Shop with your credit card, never a debit card,” she cautioned. “If someone gets your debit card they can drain your bank account and your credit card normally has some fraud protections.”
Komando also said that while your hopping from site to site and logging onto different accounts, make sure you are using different passwords.
“I know it’s a nightmare, I hate passwords too,” she said. “What you want to do is mix [your passwords] up a little bit and you can come up with a formula to help you remember different passwords at different sites. And if you can’t do that a password manager isn’t a bad idea.”
