PHOENIX — Avondale is planning to unveil a 30-acre expansion at Festival Fields Park during a grand reopening later this month.

The event is set to take place on Nov. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 101 E. Lower Buckeye Rd.

Festivities include sports demos such as basketball, pickleball, skateboarding and fitness activities.

A DJ, entertainment and food will also be available and admission is free of charge.

The $19 million renovations include a new fishing lake, dog park, splash park, play structures, skate park, play courts, ball fields, multi-use fields, picnic shelters and restrooms.

“Residents of Avondale consistently remind us that quality of life is a top priority for them, and that means places to recreate, gather and be active,” Mayor Kenn Weise said in a press release.

“The Council and I are so pleased with the improvements at Festival Fields because we know how much this means to the families in our community.”

We want to hear from you.
