PHOENIX- Maricopa County Parks and Recreation is waiving the $7 per vehicle day-use entry fee on Sunday at all of its nine parks in honor of National Take A Hike Day.
It’s the sixth consecutive year the county has participated in the event that encourages people to get out and explore nature.
“Recognizing National Take a Hike Day is a good fit for our agency since the weather is beautiful in Arizona this time of year,” said R.J. Cardin, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Director in a press release.
“We’ll be waiving the day-use entry fee into all of our regional parks on this day so the community can explore the Sonoran Desert and of course, take a hike,” he added.
Even though this event takes place in November and the National Weather Service is calling for temperatures in the mid 80’s on Sunday, Maricopa County is advising people to wear appropriate hiking attire, apply sunscreen and have an ample supply of water.
While the vehicle day-use entry fee is waived, all other fees still apply.
Maricopa County’s regional parks encompass over 100,000 acres. More information on the parks can be viewed here.
