Agents seize nearly $9M worth of cocaine from truck at Arizona border

PHOENIX – A man tried to cross the Mexican border into Arizona last week with nearly $9 million worth of cocaine in his vehicle, authorities said.
A 58-year-old Mexican citizen was coming through the Port of Lukeville on Nov. 7 when officers referred his Ford truck for secondary inspection.
With help from a drug-sniffing dog, officers found 30 packages of cocaine in a water tank in the truck’s bed, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Tuesday in a press release.
The drugs weighed around 650 pounds and were worth an estimated $8.8 million, CBP said.

The driver, who was not named in the release, was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
The drugs and vehicle were seized.
