PHOENIX – Interstate 10 in the Chandler/Ahwatukee area was shut down in one direction Monday afternoon after a serious wreck, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said one person was reportedly trapped after a tractor trailer rolled over onto a car near the Ray Road overpass just after 3 p.m.
All traffic on westbound I-10, which actually travels north in the area, was forced to exit at Ray Road after the accident, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The Chandler Boulevard on-ramp to westbound I-10 also was closed.
About an hour after the accident, vehicles could start getting through in the HOV lane, but traffic was backed up all the way to the Loop 202 Santan Freeway. By 6:30 p.m., only the right lane remained closed.
Update: The HOV, left and center lanes are open. The right lane remains closed. https://t.co/ALtXT8LzM9

Drivers heading from the East Valley toward Phoenix might consider the Loop 101 as an alternate route.
