PHOENIX — American Airlines is planning to end its nonstop route between Phoenix and Baltimore, the company said Monday.
The twice-daily route between Sky Harbor International Airport and Baltimore/Washington International Airport will end April 7.
“Our network planning and scheduling teams constantly evaluate our network, looking at supply and demand for every route,” a spokeswoman for the airline said in a statement.
“Canceling routes is never easy but it’s what allows us to expand into new markets and add more frequencies.”
The plane for the route, an Airbus A319, has 128 seats.
The cancellation will leave Southwest Airlines as the only provider offering a direct route between the two cities.
