Spacious two-story Kia dealership set to open in Scottsdale next month

Contractors announced this week they are wrapping up construction on a spacious full-service car dealership set to open by the end of the year in Scottsdale.

The city’s second Mark Kia will have 56,112 square feet of space at an auto mall south of Indian School Road between Pima Road and the Loop 101 Pima Freeway, according to a Western States General Contracting press release.

The two-story, $13 million facility at the Scottsdale Autoshow at Salt River development will offer sales, service and body repair.

Western States is building the dealership on 8.9 acres with 478 display spaces, 57 customer spaces and 266 service and inventory spaces.

Mormon families from Sonora state arrive in Arizona to escape violence

A caravan of more than a dozen vehicles holding Mormon families escaping after a violent attack in Mexico has arrived in Arizona.

The families crossed the border into the state Saturday afternoon, the Arizona Daily Star reports.

They came nearly a week after an attack Monday in which nine women and children were killed by what authorities said were people from drug cartels.

The families had lived in two hamlets in Mexico’s Sonora state: La Mora and Colonia LeBaron.

Harkins Theatres will implement luxury upgrades to their Gateway Pavilions Theatre.

The local theater company announced the $150 million project at their Avondale location will include reserved seating, electronic recliners, state-of-the-art laser projection systems, in-lobby bar, and upgrades to the lobby.

Additionally, it will implement a new CINE1 large format auditorium with Dolby Atmos 3D object-based sound and a refreshed interior finish.

He was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix on three counts of theft, three counts of third-degree burglary and one count each of second-degree burglary and resisting arrest.
