FBI seeks second suspect in Tempe armored car robbery

PHOENIX – Authorities are searching for a second suspect in the robbery of an armored car in Tempe last month, the FBI said Friday.

Juan Carlos Ramirez, 20, allegedly helped Edwin Jobany Villa steal money from a Brinks truck that had been parked outside the Costco near Elliot Road and Priest Drive on Oct. 27.

The truck was stolen around noon and abandoned behind a business about a block away with an undisclosed amount of money missing.

Villa, 23, was arrested Monday and booked on two counts of felony theft and one count each of conspiracy to commit theft and unlawful use of means of transportation.

On Thursday, a warrant was issued for Ramirez’s arrest for theft and conspiracy to commit theft.

Ramirez is 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Brinks is offering rewards of $2,500 for information leading to his arrest and $25,000 for information leading to the recovery of the stolen money.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
