PHOENIX – Authorities in the East Valley said Thursday a teenage girl who didn’t return from school the night before was found in Phoenix and was heading home.
Phoenix police found Melissa Sajn (pronounced “sign”), 16, near 51st Avenue and Camelback Road around 5:30 p.m. after authorities put out a public call about her disappearance earlier in the day, according to the Chandler Police Department.
She was on her way to being reunited with her family in Chandler, police said.
No other details about the incident were immediately available.
She’d been expected home around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Melissa attends two schools, one in Tempe and one in Mesa, and uses the light rail to travel between them.
On Wednesday night, police found her personal belongings at Pioneer Park in Mesa, near the light rail and one of her schools.
Police said she’d been entered into a national database as missing/endangered.
