PHOENIX — A Buckeye inmate who walked away from his off-site work crew in Casa Grande on Wednesday night has been found, the Arizona Department of Corrections said Thursday.
Joshua J. Speedling, 38, was safely taken back into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force near Metrocenter Mall in Phoenix on Thursday afternoon.
“The speedy arrest of Joshua Speedling was the result of the partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Arizona Department of Corrections, U.S. Marshal David P. Gonzales said in a press release. “Given Speedling’s history of forgery and drug abuse, there likely would have been more victims while he was on the run.”
Speedling had last been seen around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Speedling was sent to Lewis Prison this year after being sentenced in Maricopa County to five years for forgery, criminal possession of a forgery device and a dangerous drug violation.
