PHOENIX — Zoo Lights is less than a month from opening and preparations for the holiday event are coming to an end.
The Wildlife Lantern Safari was finished Monday and will available for viewing pleasure along the Africa Trail, the zoo said in a press release.
The 60 hand-crafted animal sculptures are made out of metal frames and are wrapped in a silk-like fabric that allow them to be illuminated from within.
The main attractions are the village of monkeys and a herd of zebras, but other animals along the trail include African elephants, hippos, a pride of lions and a mob of meerkats.
They will also be able to be seen during the zoo’s normal hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Zoo Lights opens Nov. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
