PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced on Monday $1 million in funding that will provide tuition reimbursement for members of the Arizona National Guard.

The Arizona National Guard tuition program will help students who have completed a semester of higher education to pursue a college degree or diploma.

Eligible students will receive up to $250 per credit hour. Reimbursement can’t exceed more than $4,000 per year.

“We want your best interests and your welfare taken care of and there’s more that we can do as a state,” Ducey said Monday during an event to promote the program. “We want to support you and your families and you careers and your education in any way we can.

“That’s why we’re proud to be investing with this tuition assistance program.”

The tuition reimbursement is expected to help hundreds of National Guard members, according to a press release.

Active airmen and citizen soldiers who have completed their initial occupational training, are in good standing with physical requirements and have no pending administrative action are eligible for the program.

The funding was proposed as part of Ducey’s executive budget, which was signed in May.

“Because of you, Americans can live in peace, security and safety,” Ducey said. “Arizona is grateful for everyone who serves in the National Guard.”
