PHOENIX – Five teenagers at a party held in an empty house were shot as they stood outside early Friday, the suspects driving away in a dark-colored car, Phoenix police said.

The 1 a.m. shooting near 87th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road left injuries that ranged from critical for a 16-year-old boy to not life-threatening for the others.

Detective Luis Samudio told KTAR News 92.3 FM originally officers had been called about a stabbing.

Instead they arrived to find five partygoers with gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told police the suspects’ car, an older model Dodge Charger, pulled into the cul-de-sac and a passenger began firing into the crowd. The driver then sped away.

“We don’t have any suspect information at this point,” Samudio said, but added the car could also be gray.

The others injured were an 18-year-old woman, a 19-year-old woman, an 18-year-old man and another 16-year-old boy.

KTAR 92.3 FM’s Taylor Kinnerup contributed to this report.
