Loop 202 work to be disruptive for I-10 drivers in west Phoenix this weekend

PHOENIX — Continued construction of the new 22-mile stretch of the Loop 202 freeway will be disruptive for drivers on Interstate 10 in west Phoenix this weekend.
Westbound I-10 will be closed between 35th and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for work on the Loop 202 Congressman Ed Pastor Freeway interchange, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The freeway was renamed from the South Mountain Freeway last week to honor the late congressman.
Both I-17 ramps to westbound I-10 at the stack interchange and the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 27th Avenue will also be closed.

Westbound I-10 drivers coming from the Tucson/Casa Grande area who don’t plan to stop in Phoenix can avoid the closure by taking westbound I-8 in Casa Grande to northbound State Route 85 to reach westbound I-10 in Buckeye.
In southeast Mesa, the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will be closed at Power Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday and 9 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.
Also in the East Valley, eastbound U.S. 60 will be narrowed to two lanes between Stapley and Val Vista drives from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for pavement improvements.
The eastbound U.S. 60 on-ramps at Gilbert Road and Stapley Drive will also be closed.

Westbound Chandler Boulevard will be closed overnight at the Loop 101 Price Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday for bridge work as part of a widening project.
Hayden Road in Scottsdale and 19th Avenue in Phoenix will be closed in both directions at the Loop 101 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.
Finally, both northbound I-17 ramps to Loop 101 will be closed from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for guardrail repair.
