Phoenix jail detention officer in critical condition after inmate attack

PHOENIX – A Phoenix jail detention officer was fighting for his life Tuesday after being attacked by an inmate, authorities said.
The officer suffered life-threatening injuries during the morning attack at the Lower Buckeye Jail, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, MCSO said.
The agency did not provide further details about the incident, citing the complexities of the investigation and respect to family members.
