PHOENIX – Cirque du Soleil is bringing “Ovo,” an insect-themed extravaganza, to Phoenix for seven shows in early 2020.

The Canada-based entertainment troupe’s acrobats, dancers, singers and musicians will perform “Ovo” – Portuguese for egg – Feb. 20-23 at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Shows are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. each of the first three nights plus 4 p.m. Feb. 21 and 22. Two Feb. 23 performances will be at 1:30 and 5 p.m.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m., but they are available now through a presale that started Monday morning.

According to the Cirque du Soleil website, Ovo portrays insects working, playing, fighting and looking for love in a world “filled with biodiversity, beauty, action and moments of quiet emotion.”

Ovo debuted in 2009 and has since been performed for more than 6 million fans in 24 countries around the globe.

It isn’t the only Cirque du Soleil production coming to Arizona next year.

Axel” – a new ice skating show – is headed to Prescott Valley’s Findlay Toyota Center for four performances in March and the Tucson Arena for six performances in April.
