PHOENIX — Drivers on Interstate 10 in Phoenix are in for a rough weekend of closures and lane restrictions.

In west Phoenix, eastbound I-10 will be closed between 67th and 35th avenues from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for work on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The eastbound I-10 ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues will also be closed.

Drivers west of the Buckeye area that don’t plan to stop in Phoenix can avoid the closure by using southbound State Route 85 to eastbound Interstate 8 to reach eastbound I-10 in Casa Grande.

Near downtown Phoenix, I-10 will be narrowed to two or three lanes in either direction in areas between Washington Street near the airport and the Interstate 17 stack interchange from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday for overhead sign work.

The westbound I-10 ramps to north- and southbound I-17 at the stack interchange and the eastbound I-10 ramps to northbound State Route 51 and eastbound Loop 202 at the mini-stack will also be closed during that time.

Westbound I-10 will also be narrowed to three lanes in west Phoenix between 35th and 43rd avenues from 11 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday for construction.

In north Phoenix, the Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Seventh Street and Cave Creek Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

Sixteenth, 32nd and 56th streets will also be closed in both directions at the Loop 101 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Finally, eastbound Chandler Boulevard will be closed overnight at the Loop 101 Price Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday through Monday for a freeway widening project.
