PHOENIX — Dramatic video from the Phoenix Police Department shows a suspected drunk driver narrowly avoid a couple pushing a stroller across an intersection.

The video, posted to the department’s social media Wednesday, captured a driver running a red light at a high rate of speed Oct. 14 and smashing into a vehicle just in front of the pedestrians at 53rd Avenue and Indian School Road.

The driver was later identified as Ernesto Otanez Oveso, 28.

Before the collision, two vehicles making left turns in front of the pedestrians caused the couple to have to wait in the crosswalk for the cars to pass.

This resulted in the pedestrians remaining directly in the path of the first driver.

Fortunately, the couple was able to scamper across the street after the red light runner smashed into a third vehicle that was legally crossing the intersection.

According to Phoenix police, Oveso was arrested for DUI, leaving the scene of a collision and aggravated assault.

The unidentified injured motorist in the third car was expected to recover.

Interest rates may have peaked. Should you buy a CD, high-yield savings account, or a fixed annuity?

Interest rates are the highest they’ve been in decades, and it looks like the Fed has paused hikes. This may be the best time to lock in rates for long-term, low-risk financial products like fixed annuities.
