Here’s what will be new at the 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open

PHOENIX — The Waste Management Phoenix Open is slowly creeping up, and the golf tournament has announced new features for the 2020 event.

A new multi-level general admission venue, a new-look main tournament entrance and upgrades to viewing areas at several holes highlight this year’s changes.

“We are really excited about these new additions for this year and can’t wait to see the fans’ reaction when they get out to ‘The People’s Open’ for the 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open,” Tim Woods, tournament chairman, said in a press release.

A major change is the opening of the Kiva Club, a multi-level venue that provides views of the 10th and 17th holes.

The Kiva Club will feature a main viewing deck and second-level platform with a large bar in the middle, as well as food and beverage options.

“The 17th hole has really grown over the last few years, but the majority of that growth was corporate hospitality,” Woods said in the release. “It’s such a great hole, we wanted to create a venue for the public to be able to experience it in style and comfort as well.”

The area atop the hill overlooking hole No. 12, the No. 6 green and the No. 13 tee received an upgrade and a new name.

The Ridge doubled in size to nearly 36,000 square feet and will have lounge-style seating, three rows of drink rails, and food and beverage options.

The 18th hole also is getting new seating.

The Scorekeeper suites will sit on the west side of the fairway and have a double-decker structure that will have 60 additional hospitality suites.

The main entrance to the venue will also look different this year.

It will have an open-air environment with concession stands, bar areas and activation stations.

Will-call ticket pickup has moved to a separate area on Bell Road because of the main entrance changes, according to the release.

The 85th edition of the Waste Management Phoenix Open will take place from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2 at TPC Scottsdale.

Tickets for the event went on sale in July.
